About
Seward
Seward,
known as the "Gateway to the Kenai Fjords National Park,"
is a picturesque community nestled between high mountain ranges
on a small rise stretching from Resurrection Bay to the foot of
Mount Marathon. Thick groves of cottonwood and scattered spruce
groves are found in the immediate vicinity of the city, with stands
of spruce and alder growing on the surrounding mountainsides.
Downtown Seward has a frontier-town atmosphere with some homes
and buildings dating back to the early 1900s.
