About
Mountain Home
Mountain Home is a unique and wonderful place to retire or raise
a family with small town friendliness, first rate schools, up-to-date
stores, service establishments, excellent medical facilities and
its' proximity to two beautiful lakes and rivers. The pace is
easy and life is gentle.
Mountain Home is a well known retirement destination also. Approximately
65% of the permanent population is made up of retirees. If the
idea of four distinct seasons, mountains, lakes, rivers and, best
of all, low taxes appeals to you, then you need to include the
Ozarks in your retirement research.

Home Attractions
Our beautiful trees, towering cliffs, smog-free skies, crystal
clear water, great four season climate, and plenty of recreational
opportunities are reasons enough to move here. The terrain
of this region is mountainous (Ozarks) with forested slopes
of Oak, Ash, Cedar, Dogwood, Maple, etc. We are, on an average,
about 683 feet above sea level. Our major topographic features
include Bull Shoals Lake (with Bull Shoals Dam at the edge
of town), White River and Bull Mountain (all within the city
limits). Nearby we have Norfork Lake, Buffalo National Wildlife
Refuge, Bull Shoals State Park, Crooked Creek, Ozark National
Forest, Buffalo State Park, Ozark Isle and several small streams.
