San Luis Obispo, California is located in San Luis Obispo County, San Luis Obispo is a town of about 40,000 people. It is centrally located between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Each is about 200 some miles away. Santa Barbara is about 100 miles south and a drive of approximately an hour and a half. The airport is in the south end of town and the railroad station is in the center. There is a major north/south freeway, Highway 101, as well. There is a convenient local bus service and a downtown trolley which makes a continuous circuit around the downtown area.
