Try to call the hotel as soon possible, to update your reservation. Give them an estimated new time of arrival and ask that they keep a room available for you.

• Examine your credit cards.  Be certain that none will expire soon and that your limit is enough to cover any emergencies.  If you need to raise your limit, call the credit card company well in advance.  It often takes time for a higher limit to take affect.  When making a deposit by credit card, remember that the amount may be charged to your card in advance.

• Pack your complete hotel information in a carry-on bag,  in the event that you need to reach them while still en route.

• Cancel the reservation as soon as you are sure that you won’t need the room. It is common courtesy to cancel your reservation, even if there is no penalty or it will automatically cancel at a certain time. Help the hotel to control costs and provide lower rates in general, by giving them time to fill an unused room.  It's always good to free up rooms for those who do need them.
